Yesterday our portal and dashboard went down for several hours, from about 10am to 4pm Pacific time due to a significant power outage at our Colo4 facility in Dallas, Texas. This is the first significant outage in our company’s history, and we were scrambling all day to get everything back to normal.
The good news is that even as the dashboard was inaccessible, monitoring from our global locations continued normally. The outage impacted our main infrastructure at that facility including our portal, dashboard, free service, load tester.
Looking forward we’re planning to avoid such kind even very unusual outages in future by replicating our main infrastructure in different datacenters around the globe.
