Add_New_Site_

Under Website domain enter the domain name or IP of your website.

Website domain name can be entered with or without “www”: e.g. “example.com” or “www.example.com”. In both cases, it will be recognized by Monitis RUM as “example.com” domain name, and tracking will be carried out for the “example.com” domain along with all subdomains, as per the explanation below.

Monitis RUM carries out monitoring not only for domains, but for subdomains as well:

  • If you enter a domain name, monitoring will be carried out for this domain name as well as for all level subdomains.
  • If you enter a subdomain, monitoring will be carried out for this subdomain and for all subdomains of lower levels, with the exception of “www” subdomain which is recognized by Monitis RUM the same as domain name, as explained above.

An example will help understanding it better:

If you have entered “www.example.com” or “example.com”, tracking will be carried out for:

o   example.com
o   www.example.com
o   someother.example.com
o   one.example.com
o   two.one.example.com
o   three.two.one.example.com
o   etc.

If you have entered “one.example.com, tracking will be carried out for:

o   one.example.com
o   two.one.example.com
o   three.two.one.example.com
o   etc.

Tracking will not be carried out for:

o   example.com
o   www.example.com
o   someother.example.com

By default, the page views from pages with the same URL but with different query parameters will count as coming from the same page.

If you need these page views to count uniquely then please contact our support team.

E.g. views from example.com/catalog?id=1 and example.com/catalog?id=2 URLs will be treated as views from example.com/catalog.

Enter a name for the monitor.

Select a monitor group for this monitor. You can also create a new group by clicking Add a new group.

Click Add when done.

The new RUM will be added in your Monitis dashboard.

Read the instruction in the monitor’s screen and complete the steps, as described below in detail.

Your RUM doesn’t have any data yet. Real User Monitoring uses Javascript tracking code injected into a web page to collect data from your web browser. To start monitoring your website, you need to copy and paste the shown Javascript code into the source code of all pages of your web site that you want to set up Real User Monitoring for.

Note: we recommend you place RUM Tracking Code within the source code of the web page anywhere before the closing body tag (</body>).
Note: you can also obtain your RUM tracking code at any time by opening the context menu on the top rightmost corner of the screen, clicking Settings and selecting Tracking Code in the Settings window.

If you are using WordPress, Joomla or Drupal, Monitis provides you with simple plug-ins for these CMS’ that will free you of the copy/paste work. Click here to download the RUM plugin for any of these CMS’.

As soon as you have added the JavaScript code to your web pages, Real User Monitor will start collecting data from your website and showing it on your RUM screen in your Monitis dashboard.
