This article presents an interesting study on different load rates from the U.S. to China, and specifically to locations both within the firewall and without (such as Hong Kong). Tests revealed that web load time for content delivered from within the Great Firewall was significantly less than when delivered from Hong Kong, which is outside the firewall.
