The dreaded 404 error message is something users hate to see and website owners detest their visitors arriving at. If you end up in the nether world of the 404 it means that you have reached the target server but the server could not find what you requested. This typically happens when you have requested a broken or dead link. It could be the main landing page for your website or one of the subsequent landing pages your main page links too. In either case it is not good when your visitors experience this as they may just get annoyed and frustrated and go away to never return.
To try and soften the disappointment impact of this experience some site admins just calmly refer you back to the main page or ask you to double check the address you entered. Others take a more playful approach to try and lighten up the mood when this happens. In both cases they want you to go back to the main page or check your input and pray you are not too aggravated. I think the more light hearted approach to the 404 error page is the better one as it at least can give you a quick smile before you leave.
Have some fun and hopefully a smile as you look through the 404 error messages we have for you below.
We hope you enjoyed your trip through the wonders of the 404 world of silliness and fun messages.
